New York Fashion Week Wrap-Up + Giveaway

FLYING OVER SAN FRANCISCO BAY AT SUNRISE EN ROUTE TO NYC

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2016

If you followed along with my adventures this season, you may have noticed a slight change from the typical fashion week protocol. This time around, I purposely left my Canon camera at the apartment and decided to take in NYFW with just my cell phone. No fighting over a spot to get the best shot. No flustering as I quickly try to change lenses. No carrying around a bulky camera plus my bag plus the inevitable gift bag plus magazines...it get's crazy (hence the need for an assistant)....Just calmly taking my seat and enjoying watching the fashion shows...with nothing but my cell phone.

NYFW was really different this season. And I have to say I wasn't a fan. Am I the only one who felt that the multiple locations all over the city was just....hectic, awkward & kind of annoying? I felt a lack of cohesiveness and excitement that I always felt walking into the tents at Lincoln Center.

Mercedes-Benz is no longer the sponsor of New York's biggest fashion event; handing that role over to Lexus as the main sponsor for fashion week. But that wasn't the only change. Lincoln Center, which used to serve as home base for the fashion week tents & sponsors, was not a part of the festivities anymore. Overall, it felt weird. Painfully exclusive. Cold. Almost boring. Stark....Different locations. Everything and everyone spread out all over the city...it was no wonder I decidedly missed a few shows, giving my tickets to a close friend who took photos and covered the shows for me....many times I just couldn't be in 2 places at once. Did I mention it was pouring rain too? I miss you Lincoln Center...side note. I went to 0 parties this time. I blame having a new boyfriend for my lazy attitude toward the party scene.

Bravo Jay Godfrey and thanks for the intro to the coolest accessories...I'm obsessed with this space-age jewelry line. Check out the bunny ears I need to have below:

SOHO APARTMENT BLDG. / CHANEL STORE, SOHO NYC / ARTWORK BY VERRIER BOUTIQUE

This trip to New York was slightly different for me. Instead of the typical busy show schedule, hurrying back to the apartment to upload hundreds of photos to edit and then blog... somewhere in there eating dinner...usually my first meal of the day, I relaxed this time.

This time I literally shopped till I dropped. Walked the city till my feet ached. Ate till I was stuffed. Gabbed with my girls till it was literally time to go to bed. Graced my aunt & uncle with my presence for longer than they knew what to do with....it was wonderful. I spent more time with my family (whose SoHo apartment I stay in every September). I spent more quality time with friends. Instead of quick talks in between shows, we shopped and walked till we found cute places to sit down, eat and catch up on our lives for hours on end.

Basically, I spent more time having fun: exploring the city, eating at new places, seeing friends I only see once a year, shopping, shopping, shopping!

Fashion week got put on the back-burner this trip....dare I say I'm over it...

THIS IS CALLED LUNCH DURING NYFW. HANGING OUT IN THE E! & TRESemme LOUNGE.

RAN INTO FELLOW BLOGGER RACHEL LYNCH OF "I HATE BLONDE" WALKING INTO LINCOLN CENTER.
SOMEHOW I MANAGED TO SNEAK MY BEST FRIEND (WHO IS ALSO NAMED RACHEL) INTO ALL THE SHOWS...AWESOME. AND I THINK I HAVE A THING FOR RACHEL'S. :)

I WORE A WHITE DRESS I HAD BOUGHT THE DAY BEFORE FROM THE ONLY HEARTS BOUTIQUE IN NOLITA. MY SHOES (LUCITE HEELS) ARE BY STEVE MADDEN + THE BLONDE SALAD COLLABORATION. MY BAG IS BY CYNTHIA ROWLEY & MY SHADES ARE FROM TARGET.

MICHAEL COSTELLO

So, can you believe the amazing shots I got during the Michael Costello show?! Yea, me neither. It was crazy good luck. The way the runway was setup for this presentation, the girls weaved in and out of the rows of benches that were set up for the audience. Just so happened they walked right up to me. And so, in my Sally LaPointe top & Marissa Webb heels, I sprawled out on the floor and managed to not annoy anyone while I snapped away. Needless to say, the show was fantastic. Designs like Costello's are why I love coming to NYFW.

Strangely enough, this was the season I went to the most shows. Lucky me. Seriously though, the guest lists are tight these days, especially for non-cool bloggers like myself :)

Many thanks to the PR and designers behind:
Desigual
Marissa Webb
Venexiana
Supima Design Competition
Pas de Calais
Michael Costello
Pamella Roland
Jay Godfrey
Meskita
and
the Art Hearts Fashion show...which closes out
NYFW. And I got to bring a guest so I brought long-time blog reader Lindsay along with me.

But wait, there's more...my wonderful friends over at Tieks (those amazing blue-soled flats) sent me and a guest to see Aladdin on Broadway. I can't even begin to tell you how much you need to go see this musical/comedy if you're in NYC. It was fabulous, magic carpet and all. We had VIP seating and it was a VIP experience all-around. We loved it!

THANK YOU TIEKS!!

So...what else did I wear? Here's a few more.

DURING THE DAY SHOWS, I CHOSE THIS OLDIE BUT A GOODIE, ADAM BY ADAM LIPPES PRINTED DRESS. MARISSA WEBB HEELS, MIU MIU BAG & TARGET SHADES.

FOR THE LATE NIGHT COSTELLO SHOW, I WORE WHITE SLACKS FROM ZARA. A SALLY LAPOINTE BLACK, EMBOSSED BLOUSE. MARISSA WEBB HEELS & 3.1 PHILLIP LIM BAG.

I WORE AN ASOS CROP TOP. PANTS FROM A NOLITA BOUTIQUE CALLED 'BABY BLUE LINE'. TIEKS STARDTRUCK FLATS. KATE SPADE CLUTCH.

Even did some modeling for ELEGANTEES!

HOW FUN IS THAT?! KATIE & I HAD A GREAT TIME BUSTING MOVES & GOING ROGUE IN BROOKLYN, KATIE TAKING SHOTS FOR THE ELEGANTEES WEBSITE....

AND I WAS INTERVIEWED/FEATURED BY STYLESPOTTER

“I have to say that after attending the past 4 seasons, I’ve finally figured it out. A comfy pair of shoes is the ticket to happiness and productivity at Lincoln Center…comfy BUT extremely awesome. And as luck would have it, I can thankChiara Feragni’s (The Blonde Salad) collab with the notorious Steve Madden for keeping me in the photog’s lense AND not scurrying over to the nearest CVS hunting down band-aids.”
Vanessa from Shop Save Sequins

This was by far my busiest trip to NYC. And it was definitely the most fun I've had....hey! I even took the F train! Ha!

Hope you all had a great time watching the adventure unroll by following hashtag #ShopSaveSequinsTakesNYFW on instagram, twitter & tumblr. Everywhere, as always.
